I have a student who is under 18 who will be attending my teaching event. Is there anything extra I need to do?

We have a number of students, visitors and participants who are under 18 years old, as well as adults who may be regarded as vulnerable.  As a member of staff we are in a position of trust and we all have a duty of care towards safeguarding those most vulnerable and this extends to meeting and interacting with children and adults at risk online.  Please take a look at the safeguarding team’s Guidance for adults visiting, volunteering and working at the University of Essex leaflet [https://www.essex.ac.uk/information/safeguarding/safeguarding-policy-and-guidance] which includes some useful do’s and don’ts for online meetings.
