Aims and objectives
Arabic Beginners One is part of the Languages for All programme. It aims to provide students with
a. basic listening, speaking and reading skills in standard Arabic
b. the basic structures and language study skills to ensure progression in language proficiency
c. an understanding of culture and traditions in the Arabic-speaking world
The main goal of Arabic Beginners One is to help students acquire the basic language skills needed to cope with simple, everyday conversations in Arabic, and students also learn about aspects of life and culture. Among the skills taught in Arabic Beginners One are the following: to converse with others in typical daily settings; to read simple standard Arabic texts; to understand how to ask for information in familiar situations and topics and how to understand the given information. More specific details are provided in the work programme handed out at the start of each term.
