Aims and objectives
French Beginners Two is part of the Languages for All programme. It aims to provide students with
a. the basic language skills necessary to communicate in French in simple, everyday tasks and situations related to living, studying or working in France
b. a deeper understanding of culture and traditions in France, Belgium and Switzerland
c. the basic structures and language study skills to ensure progression in language proficiency
The main goal of French Beginners Two is to help students progress on the basic language skills acquired in LX196 French One or in another course. The language focuses on simple, everyday conversations in French and the following Speaking abilities:
* Talking about taste
* Food/restaurants
* Talking about shopping clothes
* Describe a person and give advice
* Characterize an object
* Urban life and urban environment
* Talking about childhood and your past
* talking about relationships and feelings
* giving information about yourself and others in the past
* attending an interview
* being able to present a movie or a book that you liked
The ultimate aim is the ability to demonstrate limited autonomy in a variety of standard situations, the ability to obtain general and specific information in the target language, and to communicate and request information in familiar work and social situations.
Grammatical subjects cover:
* revision of present and past
* adjectives (positive and negative adjectives)
* imperfect
* imperative
* irregular verbs and reflexives verbs in the past
* passive form
* revision on how to ask questions in different tenses.
* relative pronouns (où, dont, en et y)
* demonstrative pronouns ( celui, celle, ceux , celles…)
* Preposition and pronouns with verbs ( à, de)
