Aims and objectives
German Beginners Two is part of the Languages for All programme. It aims to provide students with
a) the basic language skills necessary to communicate in German in simple, everyday tasks and situations related to living, studying or working in Germany
b) a deeper understanding of culture and traditions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
c) extended basic structures and language study skills to ensure progression in language proficiency
The main goal of German Beginners Two is to help students progress on the basic language skills acquired in LX296 German Beginners One. The language focuses on simple, everyday conversations in German. Among the learning outcomes of German Beginners Two are: the ability to demonstrate limited autonomy in a variety of standard situations, the ability to obtain general and specific information in the target language, and to communicate and request information in familiar work and social situations. Grammatical subjects cover the dative case, talking about past events, using adjectives and constructing more complex sentences. Students also learn vocabulary and responses typically related to work or study issues. More specific details are provided at the start of each term.
