Nurses and other health care practitioners are increasingly working outside their traditional boundaries of practice. There is a recognition that effective health practitioners are skilled clinicians who enhance the patient experience by bridging gaps in service provision. The quality and safety of patient care is dependent on nurses being adequately prepared for that role.
