This module introduces the students to the challenges of organisation, learning and collaboration that are shaped by ongoing changes at work and in today's society at large. The purpose is to examine past and new approaches in relation to the study of organisations and draw relevant connections between organisational theory and practice and other sub-disciplines of management, sociology, and economics, where issues of learning and collaboration are given particular attention. The module will emphasise the principal role of people and human behaviour alongside the study of systems, functions, and models. The module will address organisational processes by examining the very conditions for developing sustainable organisational strategies for innovation in both the private and the public sectors. Finally, the module will examine critically organisation and cooperation as socially accomplished activities of individuals, teams, communities of practice, projects and networks in emerging contexts.
