The International law on the rights of the child is one of the fastest growing area of international human rights law. In the past decade in particular there has been a range of initiatives by universal and regional organisations to strengthen the international legal protection of children's rights. This module aims to provide students with an overview of the international law on the rights of the child and to introduce some of the current issues and debates in this are. Students will also gain an understanding of the political, social and economic contexts in which children's rights are violated.
