Module Overview
This module provides a critical exploration into the conceptual, theoretical and empiral debates surrounding the body at work. Drawing on a range of perspectives used in Organization Studies from Sociology, Anthropology and Social theory, it expolres how the body plays an integral role in the management and interaction of day to day activities and creation of identities in the workplace.
Each week will focus on a particular dimension or perspective of 'body work' and examine how it has shaped organizationsl processes and behaviour. As well as challenging their own biases or assumptions about the relationship between the body and work, students will have the chance to engage in debates over the ways we 'use' our bodies at work and the future of the 'organizational body'.
