An initialism of Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and plus. The "plus" refers to other groups, such as queer, questioning, intersex and asexual. Alternatives include LGBTQ or even the lengthy LGBTQQIA! However, at Essex we use LGBT+ as a more practical shorthand.
