The potential for growth is a defining feature of the entrepreneurial venture. This course is concerned with the issues and decisions that the entrepreneur must consider in successfully managing the growth and development of the venture. The course is designed to cover five broad and interrelated issues: a) the process of business growth, b) strategies for growing the business, c) financing the high growth business, d) the issues of growing the business, and e) consolidating the venture. The course will draw on material from the literature on entrepreneurship, strategic management and finance to provide a basis for a critical understanding of the concepts and applications of entrepreneurial venture growth and development.
The main aim of the course is to enable students to acquire a critical understanding of concepts of and approaches to entrepreneurial venture growth. A second aim is to help students obtain a critical understanding of the managerial aspects of business growth and development.
