This module is concerned with entrepreneurial finance in the context of new venture creation. The module is structured to cover five broad and interrelated issues: a) setting clear financial goals for the new business venture, b) using financial information to make more informed decisions, c) using forecasts to help assess the progress of the business, d) managing cash flow, and e) raising funds for entrepreneurial ventures. The module will draw on material from the literature on entrepreneurship, and finance and accounting to provide a basis for a critical understanding of the concepts and applications of entrepreneurial finance that prepare students for the world they will most likely face as they start their new businesses. The module is designed for applied and experientially based teaching strategies in new venture financial management. Each session of the module is designed with the goal of facilitating application of its contents to real-life businesses.
