Reflecting the overall focus of the International Business Law LLM programme, this compulsory module provides an overview of core themes in the regulation of the relationship between business and society, in particular business responsibilities to society. It will enable students to understand the conceptual, theoretical and practical relevance of why and how businesses are regulated by law; e.g. to protect consumers, other businesses, the environment, access to services of general interest, employees, human rights etc, this being done via a mix of domestic and international private law, public law and soft law.
