This module provides an introduction to sports injuries and their rehabilitation using exercise and is ideal for those students who are interested in pursuing career as a physiotherapist, sports therapist but more importantly are generally interested in sports injuries and rehabilitation as a sport scientist, coach or teacher. The early stages of the module will involve an introduction to the aetiology of sports injuries and preventative strategies. Students will also learn about general classification of injuries and selected specific sports injuries will be discussed. Students will be taught inflammation and tissue healing processes that occur after an injury. Sports injury rehabilitation with the emphasis on using exercise will be covered. Students will learn the principles of rehabilitating sports injuries and gain an understanding of how exercise rehabilitation programmes are planned and implemented.

5. Design and evaluate an exercise rehabilitation plan;
6. Demonstrate various elements of a rehabilitation plan;
7. Define the various phases of exercise rehabilitation.
