This module aims to provide students with the foundations of management theory and practices. The module will start by looking at the context of management, the role of managers and the challenges managers face in managing teams. The importance of organisational structure will also be considered.

The module moves on to evaluate the organisational structure and culture of an organisation, as well as spending some time on the specialisms of marketing and the human resource function. This subject will also consider the challenges of the developing organisation and the process of managing change.

The student taking this module will be required to consider the topics of power, motivation, communication and team working. We complete this course by considering briefly finance and budgetary control, operations and quality management as well as a brief look at managing information systems.
